Protection Expectations

I just thought of something while browsing some old posts and thinking about my role as king of Ile Baalat Teva.

Much like many people are shocked when one protects African women, they’re shocked when someone protects a Trans woman or Femme too. A lot has happened, especially when I consider the assface and kracken situations, because dudes do not expect me to be protective of Diva. They see hur (more on that pronoun I’m field testing for a person who is mixed but presenting masculine in aesthetic mostly but very femme kind of like that Swedish person who is not a mama or papa but a mapa) as a dude but maybe a lesser dude. Not sure what crawls between their ears but they certainly don’t address him like quite a woman. It’s like a woman they can get away with disregarding her place in connection with others, but the fallback excuse when they are called out is hur dudeness?

Anyway, they are surprised by my rage when they try to manipulate or degrade hur.

To them and other guys having this issue, all I can say is get used to it. I think because feminism has been under a special kind of attack in the 2010’s, more of us women and femmes are learning more about ourselves, the history of feminism, the struggles around the world, and where trans and nonbinary folks fit into it. Those of us with warrior tendencies some may associate with masculinity are kind of crystalizing our roles as protectors. It’s just going to happen that someone’s appearance will have less and less to do with how they are regarded. Tiny Barbie may mess you up over Mx. HairyBeary.

It is what it is. Don’t mess with my Diva.
