By now, I’ve finished relearning and inscribing the second and third aett of the Elder Futhark. I’ll be making some runes for reading, but I’m kind of taking my time with that because, as it was with the bones, I want to really get into the related deities and culture before I presume to get them well enough to read for others. I understand that most Asatruar are against ecclecticism, and I understand the reasons. This is one reason I’m making sure that this venture is approached with respect and reverence.
So here are photo highlights of the rest of the inscription.
Apparently, some people are really up in arms about this. I’ve had my actions demeaned as teenage self mutilation by, of all people, a supposed priestess of Haitian Vodou. That was weird, and I have suspicions that they are not all they say they are. Most of the other opposition revolves around supposed concern for my wellbeing from people who never really gave a damn about it. Those who know me and actually cared for me, once it was explained to them, didn’t have any more problems with it.
As they heal, they’re just going to look like pink or pale lines. Maybe they’ll keloid well and become a bit raised. Maybe, like the chest brands, they will almost disappear altogether. The point though, was the inscription itself, not how pretty or ugly the outcome will be.
