Done With Wacom and Other Outsourced Manufacturers of Shit

It’s not just that they don’t make things like they used to.  They don’t make things that even fucking work.  First the tablet drivers don’t load, and then they have the nerve to blame it on the little magic elves that live in the cords’ fragile ecosystem that is destroyed by touching it or something.

I have unplugged, uninstalled, and reset only to be given some lame excuse why an expensive bit of hardware breaks in a few months for the last time.

I am just done.

Back to drawing stuff by hand and then scanning and editing with a mouse.  At least I know the pencil won’t break if I look at it.

Update August 26, 2015:

This is the only solution that worked somewhat.  Yes, you may have to start it manually every time you start your computer, but at least it will tide you over until some benevolent demigod is manufacturing a tablet that doesn’t die every day.

If manually starting the driver (which one shouldn’t have to do) doesn’t work, then the problem really is the piece of shit cord that you will have to sell your eternal soul to replace with one that actually fits…or the pen in which you can hear the bits shaking around…or the tablet that you have to still set on a conventional mouse pad to keep it from sliding around.

This is one of those situations where I’m just biding my time for touch screen technology to become more useful for artists.  We need something sturdy with speed and portability, that is recyclable.  Thankfully soon Wacom won’t be the only game in town.

I don’t hate them.  I just think they rested too much on their laurels and forgot why we used to love them.
