Retiring From the Internet

I had a very good conversation with Diva today. Some of my domains are expiring, and I was wondering what to keep and what to let go. They recommended that I think of what I want my web presence to look like before I just start nixing sites willy nilly. Thing is, since I became practically Google invisible, none of them are doing that great, even the really useful ones. So I find myself in a situation of putting lots of time and energy into projects that do nothing that couldn’t be done more easily by answering people’s questions by email or uploading the content someplace as a PDF.

Though it’s only been a relatively short time, my gut is telling me to let it all go. I’ve done enough. I did what the Ancestors sent me to the internet to do, and now it’s time to pass the torch to the young people who can keep up with all the changes. I’ll keep my blog and my parents’ site running, but the rest will go as they go.

Part of my reasoning is that nothing I’ve posted is really unique anymore. Also, traditional healers, mystics, and diviners are easier to find now, so I don’t need to promote them. They promote themselves. It is not like it was even five years ago. My work is done.

This is how I’m feeling now. I don’t expect that to change. If it does, I’ll let y’all know.

Blessings and Ashe!
