Little Snippet Along the Context Line: The Spiritual Take on Solomon’s Mistake

If you read the standard KJV cannon and even the alternates and additions in context of both Judaism and global awareness, it’s clear that Solomon’s mistake wasn’t polytheism or even necessarily idolatry. He dealt with all sorts of demons and still had the blessing. Demons’ art like humans’ art would reflect some aspect of themselves. Any carving or work they did could be considered like a “graven image” how ever abstract.

The blessing didn’t leave him though, until he sold himself and gave an offering of lives for a foreign/enemy deity to get laid.

From this one can gather that one could be forgiven, nay excused, nay even blessed for exalting one’s own ancestors or one’s own local deity to articulate, as close as humans can, the Almighty. Were I to post an image of my mother as a Goddess and say that she represents to me the Divine Force who brings all life, this would be legit. I could put her above all other known deities in my entire pantheon and it would not make a blip against my metaphysical health. I am grateful for life and showing my gratitude for this life, and doing a life affirming act worshiping the Divine through my mother as a representative.

By extension, thankful to Diva’s mother, I could worship her too. It’s benefiting me because this being brought one of my favorite beings into the world. Her Divinity boosts the positive aspects of mine. We’re good.

Neither would approve of this, but it’s just an example of the possibilities. El and YHWH started out as local deities. Because Jews are cool with everybody who’s cool with them, much like the Yoruba, nobody has a problem with respectful exchange. It just boosts the local vibe to have their names sung in praise. Plenty good energy getting cycled both ways instead of funneling.

Clarence Thomas’s mom though, nah. She may be African American like me, but that’s no friend of mine, raising a sellout to sell out. I shouldn’t give the living essence of a gnat for that person, much less a deity who embodies that energy. All my blessings would suck out of my soul the minute I did that mess.

So yeah, this was Solomon’s mistake. Don’t confuse your desire to shag someone and their supposed desire to shag you for actual alliance. You can give a demon from the sulfurous deepest pit of the magma of the underworld gainful employment, knowing that while it’s moving your bricks it is still killing folks on its lunch break, and this isn’t as bad as cracking an egg for an enemy.
