Death of Smug, the NeoPagan Edition

While I was doodling, after finding out about Marion Zimmer Bradley as the Neopagan Mommy Dearest, this little cartoon came out:

smugI call it The Death of Smug.  For those unfamiliar with the symbolism, it’s Eshu’s whoopin’ stick poking a Neopagan in the cheek, which is usually the site of the distinct dimple that unconsciously forms on a person’s face when they’re looking at another with contempt.

Vodun and diaspora practitioners, and others with gender balanced belief systems have been condemned for a long time for being too “dark”.
